Mountain View Power is a competitive electricity retailer servicing residential and small commercial customers in Olds and the County of Mountain View located within the region of Central Alberta. It is owned and operated by the Olds Institute for Community & Regional Development, an independent public community development governance board incorporated under the Societies Act of the Province of Alberta.
The Olds Institute is committed to financial sustainability by establishing sources of income that give it the freedom to initiate, support and follow through on good community development ventures. Mountain View Power is premised on ‘Buy Local, Shop Local’ and is committed to putting 100% of all profits back into sustainable community economic development initiatives in our community. All billing and back office processing is coordinated by the Utility Network & Partners group of companies.
Floating price plan
- Wholesale Cost plus 1¢/kWh
- The wholesale cost is calculated each month based on the weighted average of the energy prices as published by the Alberta Electric System Operator.

Terms and conditions applicable to both fixed term and floating price plan
- Retail services are available to all residential and small businesses located in the Wires Service provider Fortis Alberta territory.
- Administration fee is a flat rate of $5.50 per month per customer site.
- Customers must have e-mail and agree to accept electronic monthly invoices.
- Payment is accepted through direct debit only.
- Contract can be cancelled at any time with no early exit fees and only 15 days notice.
