On October 1, 2018, FortisAlberta will start electricity distribution in the Fort Macleod area. The default Regulated Rate Option (RRO) provider and billing company will change from ENMAX to EPCOR.
FortisAlberta is an electricity distribution company that will deliver electricity to Fort Macleod customers’ homes or businesses following the transfer of assets from the Municipality of Fort Macleod. FortisAlberta can be reached directly at 310-WIRE (9473) with reports on power shortages, electricity safety concerns, or electricity service delivery questions. ENMAX customers can call 310-2010 with questions about their billing with ENMAX.
Residents of Fort Macleod have the option to stay with EPCOR (the FortisAlberta regulated rate provider) or sign up with a competitive retailer of their choice.
Customers selected to remain on the RRO rate will automatically be transferred from ENMAX to EPCOR. The final billing from ENMAX will be up to the end of the day before the transfer, and the billing from EPCOR will be effective the next day.
Customers who wish to sign-up with a competitive retailer should contact the retailer of their choice to begin the enrollment process. It typically takes 10 to 15 days to switch energy services. It can also take up to 90 days depending on the specific situation. You should check with the retailer of your choice and confirm the date when your new service will start. If you need help understanding your options and deciding what energy product is best for you, please use the Cost Comparison Tool or contact the Utilities Consumer Advocate mediation team.
